Description
A moderate hike into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness region of the central Cascades. This 5 mile round trip trek will climb through old growth forest with portions looking over Talapus Creek. It's a little over a mile to Talapus Lake and then about another mile or so to Olallie Lake. This is great in spring and nice in summer and fall. Total elevation gain is 1132' over 2.5 miles.

We hiked off-trail additional 1500ft/ 2 miles to ridge over snow field and rock garden.

And then slid down on our butts. Weeeeee!

Easy hike to top knotch waterfall. One of the prettiest I've seen. Lake is further. Fun off-trail scrambling through forest of Huckberry bushes. Breathtaking grainte spires of Mt. Index.

A rousing Passover Seder. Great food, great peeps, singing, red wine. And the Lord saw that it was good. Or did He "saweth"?

Laney, the chick with red hair is in a fire performing group. After the Seder, I followed her to a practice session at Gasworks Park, a large grassy field with the remnants of an early 20th Century petroleum refinery,on the shore of diminutive Lake Union. A most felicitous setting.

The picture quality is crappy but pretty good considering I was using a hand-held point'n'shoot with no shutter speed control and zero ambient light.
